The nominations for the KICKERS URBAN MUSIC AWARDS UK
were announced July 30th. Joss has been nominated for the Best Neo Soul Act.
According to the press release

The music awards ceremony will be held on the 3rd of November 2007 in London and will be attended by more than 1,200 Artist, DJs, producers, promoters, record labels executives, celebrities from the world of music, radio, TV, sports and urban music fans from across the country.

The Urban Music Awards was born out of the need to build a worldwide and independent awards ceremony to recognize the achievement of 100% British based artists, producers, club nights, dj’s , radio stations, record labels and artist within British urrban music scene.

Joss Stone will be appearing nude in the final issue of Jane due out this month. Sound Generator.com has posted exerpts from the interview.

“I’m not into wearing clothes at home” Stone reveals in the article, which sees her photographed by Amanda De Cadenet. The 20-year-old also takes the opportunity to criticise her ex-boyfriend for having low self-esteem, which impacted on her own style.

“I didn’t wear high-heeled shoes for the longest time,” she adds. “I would wear flip-flops because the guy i was with hated that i was tall - and tall can be beautiful! But because he hated it, it made me feel really insecure and i would try and make myself smaller - and that’s ridiculous. So now i wear great big f*ck off heels!”

The photo shoot is aimed at female empowerment and dispelling the idea that you have to have to be thin to be beautiful.

Below is a interview Joss did on Richard and Judy, a british daytime show. She talks about stage fright, forgetting lyrics, performing barefoot, which she does because she is clumsy. There are some cute early videos.

This photo was taken yesterday of Joss leaving her hotel.

I just noticed her foot tattoo. It is flowers and stars. Also notice her flipflops and choice of lime green toenail polish. It seems to match her phone. I also think her bag is really cute. I am not sure how I feel about the straight hair, I think she looks better with it a bit curly, I like the color though.

Just a day after the press posted photos speculating that she was engaged,
her spokesman has denied the rumours, saying, “Joss isn’t engaged, she doesn’t even have a boyfriend. She just moves that ring around.”

She is the third of four children born to Richard and Wendy Stoker: Daniel, Lucie, and Harry.

In an interview with the South African Sunday Times, Joss commented about her performance at Live Earth 2007. She was really impressed by the other performers. Stone said: “Everyone on that stage was jamming. We were all having such a good time. The energy was good, the crowd was good.”

In addition to singing solo , Joss also sang with Angelique Kidjo. Stone said: “Singing with Angelique was amazing — she’s so much fun to perform with.”
