Journal Entry

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Joss does a journal on her webpage. She hadn’t posted since May, so I was surprised to find that she had posted a new entry.

Here is a portion of it.

I’m now in South Africa after being in Devon for 3 days! nice.

it was beyond lovely to just be home for a bit see my mum and my brothers the eldest is having a baby soon with new wifey, so all is well in sunny England.

I’m in Africa for the live earth concert, it gonna be amazing to watch just from a pure music point of view but also because i think its really gonna help us all. this isn’t a charity that is just direct to a certain group of people this is to save the earth which in turn saves us, because apparently so I’m learning we are the ones killing it . every single last one of us, We don’t have to completely change how we live we just have to be More thoughtful, simple things like turning off the lights when u leave a room , not leaving the tap running, recycling ur rubbish , and hey if you’ve got a spare couple minutes go plant a tree .”

It looks like Joss is going to be an Aunt. How exciting. I bet she will be a fun Aunt. To read the whole entry, visit her webpage

In an interview with the South African Sunday Times, Joss commented about her performance at Live Earth 2007. She was really impressed by the other performers. Stone said: “Everyone on that stage was jamming. We were all having such a good time. The energy was good, the crowd was good.”

In addition to singing solo , Joss also sang with Angelique Kidjo. Stone said: “Singing with Angelique was amazing — she’s so much fun to perform with.”

On the press release Joss stated ““I like real singers, not just a pretty girl dancing around or a bunch of good-looking boys,” “For me, it’s all about the voice. That’s why I go back to these kinds of artists. The classic soul singers and the people working today who’ve taken to heart what they did – I feel their energy so deeply, and they inspire me to be real.””

1. “Please, Please, Please” James Brown
2. “I Can’t Stand The Rain” Ann Peebles
3. “Never Too Much” Luther Vandross

Joss Performs at Live Earth

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

At 11:30pm EST,on July 7, 2007 Joss took the stage in Johannesburg, South Africa. She wore a floral halter dress, her hair was straightened , and she was barefoot of course.
She came out and the crowd that had been waiting used and she said asked why no one was clapping or clicking , the crowd started applauding.
She opened with “Girl the won’t believe it” from Introducing Joss Stone and then she then sang “Headturner” and “Tell Me What We’re Gonna Do Now”.

Joss definitely enjoyed herself, dancing and interacting with the crowd.

She then continued on with “Music”, which she calls her love letter to music.

The next song she dedicated to the lads. She told them it if she could tell them anything it would be to say something, anything. She then broke into ” Tell Me About It”.

She closed with “Right to be Wrong” from Mind, Body and Soul . This is a much slower song then the others, so it slowed down the mood, Joss sang it beautifully. Towards the end the crowd started clapping and embarrassed her. She did a few improvisions and runs at the end of the song.
I was really impressed by her performance, she did a bunch of the songs off her new album, not just the one usual one or two. It was the first time seeing her perform “Tell Me About It” and “Headturner”. I feel as thought the inclusion of “Right to be Wrong” might have been a jab at the press, who haven’t been to kind to Joss lately.

Here is video I found.

Thanks to msn.com for airing the show

PSA for PETA

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

veg.jpg
Joss has teamed up with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to create a Public Service Announcement. The ad features Joss with a Chicken and says “I’m a singer, songwriter, a performer, and a human being accepting of all sizes, shapes, colors, and species.” “I’m Joss Stone and I’m a Vegetarian”. See the full ad here

Joss who has been a vegetarian her entire life, was named world’s sexist vegetarian in 2005 by a Peta Poll.

In an interview with Peta, she stated ” I was born a vegetarian. I wanted to do the shoot because I feel there is no need to cause another living thing pain or harm. There are so many other things we can eat. I have never eaten meat in my life, and I’m 5 foot 10 and not exactly wasting away.”
